I've been asked in the past about publishing the data in book form but the costs involved and the dynamic nature of the information content mean that it would not be a practical exercise. However, I investigated publication on CD and found that it is certainly possible to do so - and that the suggested £5 (GBP 5) covers the costs of materials, postage & packing (first class within the UK & air mail to purchasers outside the UK) and the time involved nicely. There is software on the market (try searching using Google) which allows people to download a complete web site and (so long as the copyright conditions regarding personal use are adhered to) I have no objection to people doing that as an alternative to paying for a CD.
Offering an update service (whereby previously purchased copies are regularly replaced) will not be practical but CDs will be produced to order rather than being stockpiled. Each CD will contain copies of all the pages and downloadable files from this web site as it stands at the date of production (which will be printed on the CD) rather than being out of date when sent out. To ensure an up to date copy of the page for the area you are visiting, copy the contents of the CD to your laptop hard drive then access the web page and save it on top of the one copied from the CD.
The web pages contain links to web sites which are external to this web site. The links should still work if the computer on which the CD is used is connected to the Internet (e.g. where the CD is being used to minimise Internet access on a slow connection), so long as the owners of the web sites concerned have not made changes since the CD was produced.
CDs will be able to be used on any computer with a web browser installed.
The same conditions of use and copyright will apply to the CDs as to the web site itself.
CDs may be purchased in two ways:
(1) On-line using PayPal by clicking on the button below (if multiple copies are required simply increase the Quantity and click the Update Cart button on the PayPal page)
(2) By sending a cheque for £5 (GBP 5) per CD (Sterling cheques only please, drawn on a UK bank and payable to G J Hadfield) to G J Hadfield, 85 Heythrop Drive, Acklam, Middlesbrough, TS5 8QX, England.
At certain times of the year we will be away in the van so please allow 28 days for delivery of CDs.
