Motorhome Friendly and Unfriendly Parking in Herefordshire.

The Parking and Shopmobility office at Herefordshire Council initially provided details of car parks in July 2006. The information was updated, in response to a follow-up request, on 14th November 2007.
The information has been summarised in a table which can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format from Here.
The Council also stated:
We don't encourage use of multiple bays on our smaller Car Parks but would ask drivers to contact our Parking Office on 01432 260974 for advise on any Parking queries.
We don't allow sleeping overnight in vehicles in our Car Parks with the exception of Merton Meadow Car Park in Hereford and Broad Street Car Park in Leominster which as you state on your web site have many lorries that park/sleep overnight there.
Herefordshire Council have further parking details on their web site.

Users of this web site have provided the following information:

Hereford
ASDA on the A49 just over the bridge on the right from the north welcomes Motohomes for shopping as long as we use the bays at the back of the parking area and keep to with in the white lines, IF there is a bit of an overhang see the warden who is on site and he will advise. 2 hours Max free. If you have a Disabled badge use the bays provided and see parking attendant if you have a overhang. NCP and friendly. Makes a change. (Thanks to JE for this information, received 27 April 2010).

Ledbury
1) August 2006. Tesco supermarket at Ledbury was easy to access and park in (MH just under 18 feet long).
2) I was unable to find any car park in the town large enough to take a coachbuilt without blocking up the car park or substantially overhanging into a roadway. Unusually, even the Tesco car park was quite tight for getting in and out of spaces and was very busy. (Thanks to TW for providing this information on 7 February 2007 - "Personally 'tested' within the last 3 years. Like anything else, changes may have taken place since my visit and charges WILL have risen!").

Leominster
1) Received on 25 October 2006. The car park in Leominster is great..lit up all night and plenty of pubs etc within strolling distance.....the Grapes in Broad St is the best !!!. Thanks to Steve4kay for this information.
2) Parking in Broad Street and Etnam Street carparks is currently free. Broad Street carpark is suitable for large MHs. Many lorries park/sleep overnight there. (Thanks to DH for this information, received 23 February 2007).

Leominster & Hereford
Herefordshire Council have confirmed that motorhomes may use the Broad Street Car Park in Leominster overnight and also the Merton Meadow Car Park in Hereford. There is no ban on sleeping in vehicles in either car park. They say that the policy will continue 'as long as no nuisance is caused'. (Thanks to AJB for this information, received 8 January 2008).

Much Marcle
August 2006. Westons Cider Mill is easy to access and park at.

Ross on Wye
(1) We have found a motorhome friendly car park in Ross on Wye, Hereford..... after leaving bypass toward M50 enter onto Ledbury Street, continue down Over Ross Street then Brookend Street then Broad Street (all one street) until reaching a public house called The Barrel turn immediately left (all one way) park all day for a £1 barrier raises when approached no marked bays. (Thanks to TM for this information, received 4 August 2009).
(2) Parking is free at the side of the road in Wye Street alongside the river, near the bandstand. Public Toilets open 10am to 4pm. 2 pubs in short walking distance, short stroll to town. Alternatively, the coach park in Homs Road will take usually take motorhomes, though it is also used for coach parking. Again, a short stroll into town or along the river to pubs. No height restriction in car park by swimming pool, known as Red Meadow, pay and display, follow signs for swimming pool. There is an overnight stop for lorries that motorhomes could use - at the cattle market on the outskirts of Ross. Well signed from the by-pass, but they charge for overnight. However they also sell breakfast - buy one get one free! See on-line map Here. (Thanks to Anon for this information, received 31 May 2010).
