Motorhome Friendly and Unfriendly Parking in the Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight Council initially provided information on 29th August 2006. On 2nd January 2008, in response to an update request, the council sent the following information:
I have updated the ‘motorhomes’ list I compiled for you a couple of years ago. The list can be download in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format from Here.
In response to your other questions:
Technically, the use of multiple bays is not allowed, although in under-used car parks we tend to allow this as long as a ticket is purchased for each bay occupied. The only example I have mentioned on the spreadsheet is New Rd, Lake, and this hardly a car park that visitors to the IW will be flocking to.
All our off street car parks are open for use at night with the exception of Yaverland car park. It is locked at 6pm in the winter and 10pm in the summer. Our Parking Places Order is written to allow us the leverage to get rid of anybody using our car parks as a cheap camp site, so technically sleeping/eating etc is prohibited. I have had to explain to a couple from the Midlands before that pulling up in the evening to lookout to sea whilst consuming a bag of fish and chips and moving on again would be treated differently to somebody who purposely wishes to use the car park as premises for sleeping overnight.

The Isle of Wight Council has further details of car parks on its web site Here.

Users of this web site have provided the following information:
Godshill
We have just returned from the Isle of Wight and found it easy to park in Godshill, behind the shops. Ample space and what's more it is free. (Thanks to PG for this information, received 9 September 2007).
